Demolition (also known as razing, cartage, and wrecking) is the science and engineering in safely and efficiently tearing down of buildings and other artificial structures. Demolition contrasts with deconstruction, which involves taking a building apart while carefully preserving valuable elements for reuse purposes.

For small buildings, such as houses, that are only two or three stories high, demolition is a rather simple process. The building is pulled down either manually or mechanically using large hydraulic equipment: elevated work platforms, cranes, excavators or bulldozers.

 

Larger buildings require the use of rotational hydraulic shears and silenced rock-breakers attached to excavators to cut or break through wood, steel, and concrete.

Dilapidation's are works to replace a commercially leased space back to its owner in the original from as when it was leased.

 

In a commercial lease, “dilapidation's” are damages or defects to a property which a tenant is legally obliged to put right under the terms of their lease.

If applicable, a landlord can make a dilapidation's claim against the tenant either during or at the end of the term of the lease.  The dilapidation's claim should set out the repairs required to the property and then usually the tenant would rectify the damage themselves, or if not, the landlord will make the repairs and re-charge the tenant for their costs (which can include loss of rent). Alternatively, the landlord could claims for damages, forfeiture or specific performance, if the lease allows.

At Stripout London we have vast experience with structural installations, structural alterations and removals.

Our Central Synagogue project for instance required the installation of a large goal post and in ground beam to facilitate the projects design and layout objectives.  We procured temporary works designs, manufacture of steel work and specialist fixings and our specialist team installed the beams.

On the same project we built various retaining walls with structural reinforcement bar in the basement area to ensure the structural integrity of the area. 

 

Structural alterations were undertaken with temporary propping and the installation of new steel work to achieve the designers requirements.
